Boycott Florida!!

I think a national boycott of this state should be created to force these jack ass developers and Republican shit heels to stop their war on the land and the people. Everyone keeps saying "Florida is the fastest growing state in the country". WHY? !! If you are a progressivc and you aren't coming here to enjoin the campaign against the juggernauts of wealth? PLEASE STAY WHERE YOU ARE?

Young people have no place in Florida anymore. The fabled Democratic retiree has become more and more conservative because of Bush's war against Arabs and many Jewish voters perception that a vote for Bush is a vote against Palestinians. Developers are chewing this state up like the plague spread in Europe. Let's be clear. People come to Florida because of it's shoreline beauty and the sun. The shoreline beuty is being destroyed for marginal purchased views that destroy everything worth coming here for. Florida is not a place where any young person or old person who isn't filthy (and I do mean filthy) rich wil languish like a raisin in the sun.

Florida is a place where nothing is seen worth preserving. Where money for Everglades restoration is used to develop irrigation for the Agricultuure industry. The nicest piece of unbroken beach? The space complex at Cape Canaveral is surrounded by huge area of unbroken undeveloped beach. Replete with panthers, bald eagles, manatees, and beauty. Everywhere you go you look over your shoulder and se the launch pads at the space center. The only reason it is preserved? Homeland security.

Many of you have fond memories of partying till no end in Key West. Free willed and steeped in history. Key West is for sale and wealthy developers plan to turn the keys into the worlds most exclusive condo resort. The famous Gay resort Atlantic Shores? The owners have been offered 200,000,000 for the damn place. I mean what iin the hell is up people? Florida is worth fighting for but very few are doing any fighting.

The only thing that might slow them down? Figuring out where to house the help. Are we going to let them continue this shit. I tell you right now. The answer is a workers boycott of Florida. Tell the tourists and everyone else to stay away until this state decides to treat it's human and animal inhabitants humanely.

Hopeful Turtles in Paradise?

So last night we watched not one but two beautiful loggerhead turtles laying their eggs. We stayed at at a good distance and silently watched while they burrowed in and laid their nests. I won't bother with a cheesy but loose analogy to my previous writing about the disturbed turtle. I will say that those turtles and others who continue trying to save the best part of Florida do inspire the heart to want to keep trying.

South Florida makes news again! Man rapes 8 year old buries her alive in a dumpster

So what the hell is up with Florida? Well in Lake Worth yesterday a 17 year old raped an 8 year old who was staying at her God Mother's house and then put her in a recycling bin inside a construction dumpster and then covered her with concrete, rubble, and other debris assuming she would be dead. He is in the custody of police after she miraculously lived through the ordeal and was lucky enough that police dogs sniffed her out in a land fill.

More disturbing in news in our little corner of paradise during the 2004 election week a marine home from Iraq threatened his girlfriend with a knife and held her hostage until SWAT teams talked him down for mentioning she might vote for Kerry.

Local police are investigating a case of child prostitution. Palm Beach County Sheriff's detectives have a business card for a person named Kelly offering sensual massage. They say a 46-year-old man used the cards to market a girl for prostitution. A search warrant says in one incident, the man took the girl to the El Torito bar west of Lake Worth to meet a john. Detectives also say the man sexually abused and raped the girl himself, starting from the time she was 13. She is now 17 years old and in state custody. The search warrant says the girl was raped 14 times in the last three weeks at a trailer west of Lantana. No one has been arrested.

Recently a woman in Lantana was arrested for trading a twelve year old girl for an automobile and another who was prostituted by the woman became pregnant at the age of 12.

Sure everytime a white woman or teen disappears in Florida the media cover it 24/7. As they should. What you don't know about Florida is that millions of illegal immigrants are forced by the economics of living in one of the most expensive places in America with no way to make a living but take three less than minimum wage jobs, deal drugs, or turn to prostitution. In Palm Beach County, Broward, and Miami Dade every night wealthy men cruise the streets picking up desperate women who need money to live.

Meanwhile, back at the Coral Gables Police Department, the high priority is drug and cash seizures. One cop was paid 242,000 alst year or 25% of everything he confiscated. Drug treatment programs are cut and packing the jails full of poor addicts is the priority.

There are 248 sex offenders 25 of whom are predators of children under twelve within a five mile radius of my home. Is there any wonder that Florida has the worst violent crime rate in America when all the focus is on seizing Ferraris from suspectd dealers?

It gets worse, now we have a law that says if you feel threatened by anyone you can shoot them. Florida has had the violent crime rate for ten years and yet everyone keeps voting for the same old conservative jack asses.

A poor woman in Florida is in danger. Florida has no such thing as a rape charge. Sexual battery has to occur for there to be a rape. Florida is a dangerous place for everyone. It literally feels unsettling to take a walk almost anywhere I have been in South Florida with the exception of swanky multi-million dollar neighborhoods but those neighborhoods feel unsafe to walk in if you are a working calls person because you will be detained for being in a neighborhood you aren't welcome.

Mass transit? if you don't have a car you will live a dangerous life. South Florida is the most dangerous place to be a pedestrian in the United States. Can you imagine being an illegal immigrant in South Florida? You work in the fields or on your back. You may even have to turn your kids out as prostitutes to get a family car. By the way an efficiency in a blighted neighborhood in SFL is around 700. bucks. So you get here from Haiti, from Gauatmala, from Mexico fueled by rumors of work. AND THERE IS WORK! Work in the fields of Belle Glade for almost nothing. Barrack style housing owned by the compnay, no health care, many from Haiti have stated they would have been better off staying in Port au Prince. Can you imagine? Haiti is a literal blood bath right now and some feel they would be better off there?

Florida is a dangerous place. Of course you never here about all the victims of sexual violence and disappearances that occur among the poor. A little secret I will pass on. Illegals often don''t even report disapeerances. Also many immigrant women have been found to be virtual slaves taken directly to a customer and in Florida where they live an exsistance as a sex slave. What's worse is the authorities know it. Everyone knows it. It is basically accepted practice. I personally know a thirteen year old who works on the sugar farms who has no parents here, who is not in school, and who is very much in danger of being abused. think FOX News gives a damn? Maybe if they were white Mormons.

Being homeless because heartless developers are soaking up every goddamn square inch of land is terror in the hearts of the working class. Developing our last remaining Everglades for golf courses doesn't create the terror of a fresh water shortage and aren't the poor animals who live those wetlands scared to death. So terror is a bunch of kids setting monkeys free who are about to have "silence of the lambs" brain surgery done on them? It's official folks, you live in a police state. I knew it a long long time ago. If it doesn't scare you that racist hate groups aren't the number one fear of the law but animal rights activists are, then you are really not concerned about your own safety.

So it is three 50 am and I just gotta tell you that hurricane season is about to start again and here is the low down. The Feds are trying ot figure out how and why tens of millions of dollars of hurricane relief went to Miami over the last year. They never got hit by a hurricane. Meanwhile back at the Angry Floridian stomping grounds The areas leveled by two successive hurricanes are WAITING FOR THEIR GODDAMN CASH!!

What the fuck. I mean I know the Anti-Castro get what ever they want from Jeb Bush and company but god fuckin damnint are people on crack? Thousands of people are about to enter hurricane season with fucked up houses and you guys have handed out butt loads of cash to the gang in Little Havana?

How does it feel to know that your beach, our beach, our Everglades, our towns are all for sale? How does it feel to know that ethnic cleansing is alive and well in America? in Florida? How does it feel to know that slvery is alive and well in Belle Glade, Immokolee, and South Bay Florida? How does it feel to know that Jeb Bush (now that he is no longer running for re-election) has made a deal to drill for oil in our last pristine coastline in Florida? How does it feel to know that entire towns like Riviera Beach Florida (pop. est. 35,000,75% African American) can be removed from the map because developers want to take it for luxury condos?

The legislature just passed a law saying "if you feel like you might be in danger" you can shoot people down in the street. In Belle Glade Florida (pop est.17,000 80% minority) Jamiacan, Haitian and Latino immigrants work under false names for pennies in the hot sun. They are virtual slaves to the sugar industry. Belle Glade suffers with one of the highest AIDs rates in America. This all occurs in the tenth wealthiest County in America.

Let's go swimming? The Bush administration has weakened the clean water act to allow over a million gallons of raw sewage a day to be dumped into the Bay of Biscayne outside of Miami. Boynton Beach Florida enjoyed a 250,000 gallon sewage spill into local waterways last year, Lake Worth dumped 35,000 gallons directly into the ocean last Summer. Meanwhile Mathacyllin Resistant Strep or FLESH EATING DISEASE can be enjoyed seasonally in most local intracoastal and even coastal waters. Hepatitis rampant we love water sports in this state. Coming for a vacation? Bring your own HAZ MAT crew. What is that strange rash on your tummy? Don't worry be happy!

87% of incumbents ran unopposed in elections last year. Republicans have redrawn districts in the state so that places like Palm Beach County that are 60% Democrat are controlled by Republican County Commissions. Wonder why we can't get a fair election in Florida?

So I went down to the Beach tonight and what did I see? This poor Lagerhead Turtle crawled out of the water to lay eggs after 25 years away from home. It took one look at the Ritz Carlton in it's birthplace and the vanished dunes and slid slowly back into the water.

Kinda sad. Kinda good analogy for plight of the whole state. The whole god damn state is becoming one big spot light blasted luxury condo or worse a big empty multi million dollar bankruptcy shelter for the likes of OJ and Rush Limbaugh (The state can't take your house in bankruptcy proceedings in Florida. No matter how much money you put into it. That is one of the main reasons every rich bastard in America sinks 20-50 million dollars into a waterfront estate in South Florida. Mystery solved? How ironic one of the most sensual places on the planet set aside for folks who make bikinis look like a diaper. Meanwhile,the young folks who blow them, wash their cars, cut their grass, and massage their egos over a bar can't afford to rent an efficiency for under 700 bucks. Young folks whither on the vine in Florida and old folks cling to it drying like raisins in the sun.

Don't get me wrong I don't hate old folks but why isn't there room for the people who live here 12 months out of the year? The rich leave in time for West Nile virus season and come back right when the flu season hits up North. Most of the old folks who live down here are not rich they are retired in a two bedroom (in case the kids visit) 5 miles from the coast that cost them about 50,000. A high percentage of coastal dwellers are rich people from Belgium, Canada, South America and etc... Only the rich belong. You have to be appproved by a condo committee before you move in. Are you a felon? Are you weird looking? Are you gay? Is your credit perfect? If your answers are yes,yes,yes, or no to these questions then you need not apply.

It's hilarious. who do the redknecks hate down here? Whose fault is it they live like crap? Mexicans and Haitians of course. It is those poor souls they blame for Florida being too expensive to live in. Unfortunately the wealthy have many of the uneducated folks here blaming each other for their plight. Some African Americans I have met blame it on the Haitians and Mexicans for putting a bigger burden on welfare and medicare. the Some Haitians I have met blame African Americans for making poor neighborhoods unsafe. Some Latinos blame drug addicts for stealing their cash on the way in from the fields. Many Cubans I have met hate everyone except Republicans and other Cubans. When do we stop blaming each other and see that the rich have put us all in the same shitty situation. Bush cut spending for housing, education, welfare, and medicare. Bush cut spending for drug treatment (both of them). The wealthy are starving poor neighboorhoods and making them prone to crime. Folks we gotta understand who the real vilains are down here.

Some Democrats actually came out against raising the minimum wage down here. Everything is backwards. Anyway something about a turtle refusing to lay eggs at the Ritz!
